2023 FREUNDSTÜCK Riesling GG

Perhaps the most elegant Riesling in this year‘s Grossen Gewächs collection. A little more restrained on the nose than the other GGs, barren and stony, with a hint of exotic yellow fruit. The Freundstück shows all its power on the palate. Taut acidity meets a smoky, salty minerality that leads to an extremely long finish. This is what Forst tastes like!

Freundstück (the smallest of the Forst sites) is directly adjacent to the much more well-known Kirchenstück, has a first-class soil and is a „grand cru“ in every respect.

Soil:
Red sandstone is paired with some limestone boulders and a hint of basalt on the surface. The smallest of the Forst sites is located directly on the edge of town between Kirchenstück and Ungeheuer.
