2022 Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten Riesling dry

The VDP.Erstes Gewächs® can be most easily compared to the French Premier Cru in Burgundy. VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines are the dry wines from our classified top sites from VDP.Erste Lage®. These sites must undergo a new test that confirms their site quality and wine quality. Our VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines hardly differ from a Grosses Gewächs® in terms of yields and ageing, site/location is the only difference.
Soil:
At an altitude of 120-170 meters, the Paradiesgarten extends in a south-easterly direction from the edge of the Haardt towards Deidesheim. Its weathered soils of red and yellow-red sandstone are the reason for the fineness and balance of the wines. Our parcel in the Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten is located below the Deidesheimer Langenmorgen site and was considered part of the Langenmorgen until 1971. For this reason, until the 2012 vintage, von Buhl‘s Paradiesgarten was marketed as VDP.Grosses Gewächs. During the unification of the VDP Pfalz vineyard portfolio, Paradiesgarten has been marketed as a VDP.Erste® Lage since the 2013 vintage.
