2021 Deidesheimer Mäushöhle Riesling dry

The minerality of Mäushöhle almost jumps out of the glass, garnished with a hint of exotic melon and red peach. On the palate, a punchy minerality with plenty of grip combined with an invigorating acidity that remains almost endlessly on the tongue, making you crave the next sip.

The VDP.Erstes Gewächs® can be most easily compared to the French Premier Cru in Burgundy. VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines are the dry wines from our classified top sites from VDP.Erste Lage®. These sites must undergo a new test that confirms their site quality and wine quality. Our VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines hardly differ from a Grosses Gewächs® in terms of yields and ageing, site/location is the only difference.

Soil:

The vineyard rests in a hollow with an opening to the east. Due to this factor, along with the stream ditch- which ensures a good water supply, the Mäushöhle benefits immensely in times of climate change. Due to the removal of forest soil, the vineyard in the Mäushöhle is very enriched with humus, explaining the density of the wine.
