2021 Deidesheimer Herrgottsacker Riesling dry

In the 2021 vintage, the Herrgottsacker shows its more elegant side: herbal and floral with a hint of white peach underneath. On the palate, it unfolds a fine mineral melt that perfectly combines extract and acidity. Complex structure and yet pleasantly round.

The VDP.Erstes Gewächs® can be most easily compared to the French Premier Cru in Burgundy. VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines are the dry wines from our classified top sites from VDP.Erste Lage®. These sites must undergo a new test that confirms their site quality and wine quality. Our VDP.Erstes Gewächs® wines hardly differ from a Grosses Gewächs® in terms of yields and ageing, site/location is the only difference.

Soil:

We mainly harvest the grapes for our Herrgottsacker, which have a significantly reduced yield, from an approximately 0.5 hectare planted fillet plot. The soil is clearly characterized by red sandstone and loess, with isolated veins of limestone and good drainage.
