2014 Von Buhl Rieslaner Beerenauslese

Half child of the earthy Silvaner and half of the more vivacious Riesling grape the Rieslaner is one of the very few new breeds that has found its way into the “belle étage” of classic wines. The entire grape is consumed by the noble fungus creating a vital influence on both the smell and taste of the wine. Harvesting, of course, a selective harvest of individual berries. The Berry Auslese of the Rieslaner ignites a firework of pleasures. Spicy notes such as pepper and cloves compete with dried fruit aromas. The length is thin, elegant while the acidic structure only hints at the true power of the wine when enjoyed young.

We bring out noble sweet wines to market three years after the harvest (at the earliest) in order to give them the necessary time to mature. Patience is essential, especially with noble sweet wines.
