2019 Forster Musenhang Riesling - Dry

Musenhang is our coolest site located at the very top of the Forst’s forest edge. This wine impresses with its typical chalky minerality, dried herbs and delicate toasty aromas. Despite a distinct acidic structure, the 2019 Musenhang enthuses with its melting and power. The length and minerality promise enormous potential.

The VDP.Erste Lage is most easily compared to the French Premier Cru classification in Burgundy. VDP.Erste Lage consist of dry Rieslings from top, classified vineyard locations. From the yields and the development, our VDP.Erste Lage hardly differs from a Grosses Gewachs, the only difference is the individual location of the vineyards.

Soil:
The proximity to the nearby forest makes the Musenhang our coolest vineyard location. Filled with both sandstone and limestone, and occasionally a hint of basalt from the nearby Pechsteinkopf (an inactive volcano).
